Job description
This role will cover Margate, Westgate on Sea, Birchington on Sea and surrounding areas.
About the Role
As a Community Support Worker at Avondalecare, you will provide essential support to individuals with mental health conditions, learning disabilities, and/or autism spectrum disorders (ASD) within their local communities. Your role is to enable these individuals to live independently, achieve their personal goals, and engage in meaningful activities that enhance their quality of life.
You will work closely with individuals to help them develop life skills, build confidence, and maintain their independence, fostering a positive and inclusive community experience.
Key Responsibilities
As a Community Support Worker, your main duties will include:
Supporting individuals to participate in community activities, hobbies, and events that align with their interests and goals.
Encouraging and assisting with daily living tasks such as cooking, shopping, and budgeting to promote independence.
Providing companionship and emotional support, building trusting relationships that inspire confidence and self-esteem.
Working collaboratively to implement care plans and support strategies tailored to individual needs.
Supporting individuals to access health services, attend appointments, and manage their well-being.
Completing accurate daily records and contributing to reviews of care plans and risk assessments.
Person Specification
We are looking for candidates who are:

Supportive and encouraging: Committed to empowering others to achieve their goals.
Reliable and dependable: Able to work independently and responsibly in the community.
Proactive and positive: Motivated to create a supportive and uplifting environment for individuals.
Ideal Candidate Specifications
The ideal candidate should have:
Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or mental health challenges.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (preferred but not essential).
A commitment to personal development and a willingness to work towards qualifications such as NVQ Level 3.
Working Environment
As a Community Support Worker, you will spend much of your time within the community and individuals’ homes in the Thanet area. Flexibility is key, as working hours may vary.
